Cherokee Speedway Hosts Carolina Clash Super Late Models This Saturday, May 7, 2016

May 6, 2016

GAFFNEY, SC -     The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series has been idle since the Ed Gibbons Memorial Race on March 26, 2016, which was won by three-time champion Dennis Franklin on a last lap pass of leader Willie Milliken, who has taken the dirt late model world by storm recently with wins in the FUEL Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Dirt Series at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in recent weeks.
While the Clash may have been idle in April, many of the teams were rather busy filling their weekends with action at various local tracks, supporting both regional and national late model tours that visited the Carolinas ovals.
Ross Bailes of Clover, SC already has two Carolina Clash wins in 2016, but he pocketed a rather impressive FUEL series victory at Cherokee on April 9, 2016, with a dramatic pass over race leader and fellow Clash competitor Donald Bradsher. Each driver will be looking at Cherokee to continue their success at the 3/8 mile clay-oval located off I-85 in Gaffney, SC.
Bailes will enter the event second in points coming off a rather disappointing showing at the WoO event at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC, where he won the first Clash race of the season.
Carolina Clash point leader Dean Bowen of Whiteville, NC is also eager to get back into action after the long break.
The event at Cherokee Speedway this coming Saturday, May 7, 2016, will be a $4000 to win event and will start 22 cars from all entrants. Also on hand will be the exciting SECA Late Models for a $1200 to win feature event. Other divisions include: Joe's Towing Limited Sportsman $800 to win, Mechanical Edge Stock 4 $800 to win, SECA Crate Sportsman $500 to win, Extreme 4 $500 to win, Thunder Bombers $500 to win, plus Dwarf cars and Young Guns.
Gates open at 5 drivers meeting at 7. Grandstand admission will be $20 and pit admission is $30.
Cherokee Speedway is located at 153 Speedway Rd. Gaffney, SC 29340, adjacent to Interstate 85 and exit 96 in Cherokee County.
