MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) based in Mooresville, NC has teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand for the inaugural Fairways and Straightaways Golf Classic to be held at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University on September 17th. The Fairways and Straightaways Golf Classic will consist of drivers, teams, sponsors and officials that are in the area for the CARS Tour www.bakerdist.com 200 to be held at Myrtle Beach Speedway on September 19th. Proceeds from this charity golf tournament and the fundraising events held at Myrtle Beach Speedway on the 19th will directly benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand.
“We understand our role as a series is to not only put on a great show for the fans at Myrtle Beach Speedway but to give back to the community we race in. The Fairways and Straightaways Golf Classic will be a great opportunity for our teams, officials and fans to enjoy an afternoon at the beautiful Hackler Course while raising money for the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand. Hopefully, the competition won’t be as fierce on the course as what we will see at Myrtle Beach Speedway Saturday night.” stated Jack McNelly, owner of Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS).
About the CARS Tour: Formed in the fall of 2014 by owner Jack McNelly, the CARS Tour was built out of the remnants of the former Pro Cup Series. The CARS sanctioning body, continuing a desire to create a viable option for quality pavement racing throughout the Carolinas and beyond, formed the dual division CARS Tour. Featuring both super late models and late model stock cars competing on the same night at the same track, the CARS Tour is the first series of its kind to host two premier divisions under the same banner, at the same track and as part of the same event. On September 19th at 7 PM the CARS Tour will present the www.bakerdist.com 200 featuring 100 green flag laps for both the Late Model Stocks and Super Late Models. This will be the ninth race of the inaugural ten race season for the CARS Tour. General admission tickets are $20 with children aged 7-12 priced at $10.

About Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand: Since 1998, the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand has been in the forefront of youth development efforts, working with young people from predominantly disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand is dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged youth have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures. The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand has three main programmatic objectives: fostering Academic Success, building good Character and Leadership Skills and encouraging Healthy Lifestyles. The Club is proud to be a United Way of Horry County Partner Agency. In 2014 the Club had over 240 registered school-aged members between 5 and 18 years of age who participated in after-school and summer day camp programs. They benefited from trained, caring, professional staff and volunteers who helped them take control of their lives, envision productive futures and achieve their goals. We have two program sites: Our Elementary & TWEEN Programs located at 3101 N. Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 and our Teen Center - "The CLUB" – located at 1404 Carver Street, Myrtle Beach SC 29577.
