Baer Field Speedway Up Next for ARCA/CRA Super Series

    SALEM, IN - For the first time since the 2011 racing season, the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval of Baer Field Speedway located in Fort Wayne, Indiana will host the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS in the running of the Summit City 100 Presented by Trucking Fort Wayne on Saturday, August 22nd. This race will be the first appearance by the ARCA/CRA Super Series at the Northeastern Indiana speed plant since May 22nd, 2011 when Brian Campbell scored the win in Asphalt Wars 100 over four years ago.
    There have been 14 ARCA/CRA races at Baer Field dating back to the first race on June 26th, 1999 won by Two-Time Series Champion, Brian Ross. Three-Time Series Champion, Scott Hantz has five of his 31 career wins at BFS while Eddie Hoffman has been to victory lane twice. In addition to Campbell and Ross, a pair of short track legends, Fort Wayne’s own Larry Zent and Canadian, Junior Hanley have a win apiece. So does 2005 Series Champion, Jeff Lane, 2004 Series Champion, Chuck Barnes Jr., and J.R. Roahrig.
    Topping the list of CRA drivers entered for Saturday’s race is current series Championship and Senneker Performance Rookie point’s leader Grant Quinlan, who is still seeking his first series win of the 2015 season, after claiming to victories last season with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Also entered is fellow rookie Hunter Baize, who is second in series points, 18 points behind Quinlan. Baize picked up his second victory of the season last Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway, to go along with his Memorial Day victory at Illiana Motor Speedway. Eddie Van Meter, third in series points is also entered, Van Meter picked up a series win at Anderson Speedway in April.
    Other top CRA regulars entered include 2014 series Rookie of the Year Wes Griffith Jr., rookies Matt Hall, Mark Lambert and Jordan Pruitt, along with Nick Gullatta and Jeep Pflum, and 2013 series Rookie of the Year Ali Kern who picked up her first series win on August 12th at Kalamazoo Speedway. 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Dan Leeck is also entered. Leeck got a series high second place finish at Saturday’s event at Flat Rock, and picked up his first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory at Dixie Motor Speedway in July. JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour regular Jack Smith is entered for New Haven, Indiana car owner Greg Urbine. Smith picked up a series high second place finish in the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway on July 18th. D.J. Weltmeyer, who has made selected appearances in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in 2015, is entered in his family owned car for Saturday’s race.
    Three time series Champion Hantz is entered to make his third series start of the season , Hantz looks to add to his series high five wins at Baer Field on Saturday. Former CRA regular Jason Dietsch is entered to make his second series start of the season, Dietsch picked up a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory at Angola Motor Speedway last year. Former series regular and series event winner T.J. Fisher is entered to make his 2015 series debut. Fisher has been a regular in the Baer Field Speedway Late Model Sportsman this season with several victories for car owner Scott Coe. Another former series regular Jason Shively, a Ft. Wayne native, will jump back behind the wheel after not competing with the series since 2010. Shively has made select appearances in the Baer Field Speedway Late Model Sportsman this season.
    Wallkill, New York driver Tyler Dippel is entered to make his series debut on Saturday, driving for Scott Neal Racing.  The 16 year old racer has an extensive racing background at a young age in a dirt modified and sprint car, and has competed in an asphalt late model with appearances at New Smyrna Speedway and races with the PASS Pro Late Model South Series
    In addition to the ARCA/CRA Super Series, all five divisions within the Fort Wayne Transmission 'Hot 5' Weekly Racing Series will be in action in a Features Only format. The AR Bodies Late Model Sportsman, Emma Warehouse Modifieds, Kings John Services Street Stocks, Afdent Dentistry Mini Stocks and Grote Automotive Compacts will all be on hand for an action-packed night of racing. There will also be a Test & Tune day scheduled for Friday, August 21st for all divisions as the Pit Gates Open at 3:00p.m., with Rotating Practice going from 4:00-8:00p.m.
    Grandstand Admission for Friday, August 21st on the Test & Tune day only is Free. Ticket Prices for Saturday, August 22nd are as follows: Grandstands (16 and Over) – $18.00, Kids (10-15) –$10.00, Children (9 and Under) – FREE. In addition, Two-Day Pit Passes – $45.00, One-Day Saturday Pit Passes – $30.00 and One-Day Friday Pit Passes – $20.00.
