Though the previously scheduled off-season races are not typically a ticketed event for spectators, AMS will open the grandstands beginning at 11 a.m. to offer a free entertainment option while evacuees await the arrival – and departure – of the hurricane, while staying on property. “We feel for our fellow people going through some difficult times right now, and we want to do whatever we can to take some of the stress off of them,” said Ed Clark, AMS president. “We’ve decided to open the grandstands and let the people on property come and watch the races. We’ve even changed the name to the Irma 300. We got that name because a usual day of double-feature Legends racing is about 300 laps. "If anything, maybe we can provide a little entertainment, and maybe a small distraction, at a difficult time.” The scheduled lineup for tomorrow’s on-track action includes double feature races across eight divisions, with drivers ranging from grade-school-aged beginners all the way up to veterans at the pro level. Concessions and restroom facilities will be open inside the venue during the event, and guests should enter through Gate 13.
