Lucas Oil Late Models Visit Tennessee and Kentucky

WAYCROSS, GA - The stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will venture to Tennessee and Kentucky this weekend for an action-packed doubleheader. The series returns to Tazewell Speedway on Friday, June 3rd before heading to Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday, June 4th. Tazewell Speedway, better known as "The Bad Fast Taz," is accustomed to thrilling, edge of your seat racing action. Regional standouts such as Billy Ogle Jr., Vic Hill, Donald McIntosh, and others will battle the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in the "Toyota Knoxville 50." The event will include a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a 50-lap, $10,000-to-win main event. Also on the racing program for Friday, June 3rd are the Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, and Super Stocks. In 2015, Jonathan Davenport took the lead on lap 35 from hometown favorite, Scott Bloomquist and lead the rest of the way to win the Toyota Knoxville 50. The 2014 National Champion, Don O'Neal finished third. Steve Francis and Jimmy Owens completed the top-five. The Tazewell Motor Lodge is the Official Host Hotel of Tazewell Speedway and the "Toyota Knoxville 50." For more information or to make reservations, visit their website at or call (423) 626-7229. Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee off US 25-E on Bacchus Road. For additional information, visit or call (423) 626-2222. Florence Speedway will host the largest, single-day event in dirt late model racing in 2016 on Saturday, June 4th. The 30th Annual "Ralph Latham Memorial," held in honor of the late Ralph Latham, will boast an impressive $30,000 top prize. The event will feature a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, and B-Mains - highlighted by the 75-lap, $30,000-to-win main event. The Open Wheel Modifieds will also compete for $1,000-to-win. Ralph Latham, a long-time Cincinnati area racer, lost his battle with cancer in August of 1986.
