PASS North Racing For A Cause This Weekend At Star Speedway

NAPLES, ME - When the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models hit the track this Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire’s Star Speedway, they will be racing for more than just a checkered flag. The Support 50 Legs 150 will help raise awareness for a cause affecting far too many Americans. Steve Chamberland’s 50 Legs organization is to help provide amputees with the necessary care and prosthetics, that they could not otherwise afford, and to help them live a happier and healthier life. So far this season, there have been three different winners in the first three PASS North Super Late Model events. PASS young gun Garrett Hall captured the checkered flag at Thompson Speedway and sits third in points. Ben Rowe edged out DJ Shaw and Johnny Clark in an amazing three wide finish at Oxford Plains Speedway. And, Shaw is coming off a win of his own at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway that saw him get the best of Joey Doiron on a late-race restart. Fellow New Hampshire driver Derrick Griffith, Jr. is hoping for success this weekend in his home state as he prepares for the Support 50 Legs 150 at Star Speedway this weekend. Griffith currently sits 10th in PASS North Super Late Model points, with a best finish of second coming at the season opener at Thompson Speedway. Griffith is excited for another opportunity to compete for a win Saturday at Star Speedway. “Star has been good to us, it’s a fast little bullring and I love the way these high-horsepower PASS Super Late Models get around this track,” says Griffith, driver of the Tyngsboro Motors/50 Legs #12G. “We finished in the top 10 in last year’s race and we were able to gather quite a bit of useful information. We’ll see if we can use it to grab an even better finish this weekend.” Another strong field is expected for Saturday afternoon’s Support 50 Legs 150, including former HP Hood Oxford 250 winners, Ben and Mike Rowe, who battled for the win at Star Speedway last year. Former PASS champions, Johnny Clark, Joey Doiron, and DJ Shaw are also entered, as well as former HP Hood Oxford 250 winners, Glen Luce and Joey Polewarcyzk. Griffith, Shaw, and Polewarcyzk will be joined by fellow Granite State natives Bryan Kruczek and Jeremy Davis, as well as Vermont’s Todd Stone, Massachusetts’ Derek Ramstrom, and New Brunswick’s Matt Matheson. Maine drivers David Oliver, Dave Farrington, Jr., Richie Dearborn, Tracy Gordon, and Rusty Poland have also sent in pre-entries. All the action gets under way on Friday at Star Speedway with rotating practice for all competing divisions from 4 – 8 PM. On Saturday, practice will begin at 1:30 PM with heat races slated to begin at 4:30 PM followed by features for the PASS North Super Late Models, 350 Supers, Strictlys, and Roadrunners. PASS North Super Late Model entry forms for Star Speedway, Speedway 95, and Thunder Road International Speedbowl, along with the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 entry forms, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.
