Orange County Speedway Next on KOMA Unwind Modified Schedule

KING, NC - By the time October 10th rolls around, hopefully the flood waters have receded and things return to something resembling normal. Or at least as normal as things can be after what has been described as a 1,000 year weather event. The thoughts and prayers of the racing community are with the thousands of people along the East Coast as they recover from the storms. The weather man is predicting crisp fall weather for the double-headers for the tracks regular divisions and the featured “KOMA Unwind 125” presented by KOMA Unwind relaxation drink. Heading the list of entries for the Modifieds is current point leader, Burt Myers from Kernersville, NC. Myers holds a commanding lead over his younger brother, Jason and Dan Speeney. “Mod Light” driver, Jimmy Wallace holds down fourth spot with Mike Norman completing the top five. All are expected to be on hand for the event. Buddy Ellis, Tom Buzze, past “Cup” winner, Jeremy Mayfield, Spencer Davis and Don Johnson round out the top ten spots. The standing will change after this event with driver changes starting the “silly season” early. Johnson is out for the season after a mid-summer fall resulted in a head injury. He is recovering nicely and plans to return in 2016 with a three car team. Spencer Davis has been replaced in the #79, Hillbilly Racing, Coors 21 Means 21 Modified by James Civali. Civali is a part-timer in the northeast modified ranks and returns to the Hillbilly Racing team seat he has filled before for team owner David Hill. A.J. Winstead returns to the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series for the OCS races. The Richmond, VA driver along with Gary Putnam, David Calabrese, two-time KOMA Unwind winner Zach Brewer and Brandon Ward are also entered. Also expected are Jeremy Gerstner from the Whelen Modified Tour and Camping World Truck series winner Cale Gale. A complete entry list will be released later this week. Orange County Speedway has a regular practice session on Thursday from 4:00 PM till dark for all divisions competing this weekend. Grandstands open Saturday at 5:00 PM and racing gets under way at 7:00 PM. Come early to claim your seat and meet the drivers in a big autograph session.
