PASS Super Late Models to Make 2nd Appearance of 2015 Campaign at South Boston on Saturday

SOUTH BOSTON, VA - The Super Late Models of the Pro All Star Series (PASS) will make their second appearance of the 2015 season at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 15. The PASS Super Late Model 150 racing program will get cranked up at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 and will also feature twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. When the PASS Super Late Models made their first appearance at America’s Hometown Track in June, Kaz Grala scored his first ever victory in the series and his first win ever at South Boston Speedway. Grala, driving a Kyle Busch Motorsports entry, swiped the lead from pole sitter Jared Fryar on lap 118 and went on to lead the rest of the way in the 150-lap battle on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval. Clay Rogers, who was piloting a Coulter Motorsports machine, finished second, while Zane Smith was third. Fryar faded late in the race and finished in the fourth position, while Brandon Ward rounded out the top five drivers in the field. Grala led twice in the race for 130 laps, and Fryar paced the field two times for a total of 20 laps. The battle for the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division championship between former South Boston Speedway champions Matt Bowling and Lee Pulliam will resume on Saturday, Aug. 15. Bowling, a two-time winner in 2015, continues to own the top spot in the point standings; however, his lead has dwindled somewhat following Pulliam’s sweep of twin racing action on Saturday, Aug. 1. Pulliam, a two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, has now motored to Victory Lane seven times at America’s Hometown Track in the 2015 campaign. Pit gates will open on Saturday, Aug. 15 at noon and practice for all divisions will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 4:45 p.m. A Fan Appreciation Session will be held trackside before the night of racing begins. It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and continue until 6:45 p.m. Advance tickets for the PASS Super Late Model 150 race program are currently on sale at the South Boston Speedway office and are priced at just $10. Advance tickets can be purchased until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14. Adult general admission on race day will be $15. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult.
