Jimmy Smith Memorial Race at Fayetteville up Next for Carolina Clash

Tomorrow night, August 1, 2015, race teams and fans will assemble at the historic Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC to pay tribute to Mr. Jimmy Smith of Race Tires of America (American Racer), who passed away on July 18. This will kick off the second half of the Carolina Clash season, which has been idle since June 9. Now that the summer break is over and race teams have been given a chance to regroup, everyone is ready to get this second half underway. Rock Hill, SC Rookie Ben Watkins will be debuting a brand new Longhorn Chassis as he brings his points lead with the Carolina Clash back to Fayetteville, where he won his first event back on June 6. Other drivers on the potential list to attend include Raeford, NC driver Shaun Harrell and Fayetteville area driver Neil Sykes. Doug and Anthony Sanders will return with hopes of gaining ground in points, along with Kevin Wilson. Autryville USA will also be represented as Scott Autry plans to return to Fayetteville after a win locally a few weeks back. Fayetteville Motor Speedway is also collecting back-to-school supplies for the children of Cumberland County, NC and all teams and fans are encouraged to bring a well stocked bag of school supplies to donate. Items include: pencils, notebook paper, composition books, dry-erase markers, hand sanitizer, spiral notebooks, tissues, stick glue, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, etc. Full lists can be seen on the Fayetteville Motor Speedway website and social media outlets. Among the highlights of the event will be several sets of American Racer tires to be given away to teams finishing in the Carolina Clash feature. American Racer (Heintz Performance and Scott Junod of American Racer) has donated 4 tires for Saturday's Jimmy Smith Memorial Race - information on how they will be dispersed is TBA but somebody will get free tires for their's how!!!! It will be decided on Saturday what two finishing positions will get 2 tires each. Which finishing positions? We will announce it at the driver's meeting Saturday. Two drivers will be leaving Fayetteville with 2 brand new American Racers from Heintz Performance and Scott Junod at American Racer in memory of Jimmy Smith!!! Carolina Racing Supply: 2 sets of American Racer race tires (certificates from company) to be awarded to the following: • The highest qualifier who is running on American Racer tires will receive one complete set of 4 tires!!! ($600 value) • The highest finisher who is racing on American Racer tires will receive one complete set of 4 tires!!!
