ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Northern Division Heads North To Spartan Speedway This Sunday, July 26t

(ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Photo) ANGOLA, IN -The Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Northern Division returns to action on a rare Sunday twilight show. This Sunday, July 26th the Northern Division contingent will head to the 1/4 (0.250) mile semi-banked paved oval of Spartan Speedway, located south of Lansing in Mason, Michigan for the Genuine Broaster Chicken / Brian Heeney Memorial 100 Presented by Performance Automotive Northwest. In the only other appearance by ICAR at the immaculate Great Lakes State facility one year ago, Jordan Pruitt, now a rookie of the year title contender in the ARCA/CRA Super Series took the win ahead of Travis Eddy, Brian Nester, Dan Loughan and Jim Butler who were the top five. This is the tracks signature event for Modifieds and will have a Fuel Stop on Lap 51. An expected strong field of weekly Modified drivers and teams will look to challenge the expected large number of traveling invaders in the first of two 100-lap mains the ICAR teams will race in during the season. Going into the race, Overall and Rookie of the Year points leader, Jason Parish returns to the track he started his racing career at. The Eaton Rapids, Michigan competitor has three wins in 2015 with two of those coming at near-by Springport Motor Speedway (MI). His last victory was actually in the last Northern Division event, five weeks ago, at Auto City Speedway (MI) on June 20th. ICAR Southern Division point's leader, Brian Nester, who has a victory in both divisions, will be making the trip north from Hamilton, Indiana once again to take on the Northern Division contingent. His North triumph came at Berlin Raceway (MI) back on June 16th. Travis Eddy is the only other winner in the Northern Division in 2015 having taken his victory at Auto City back on May 16th. Parish leads Nick Clemens in the Northern Division standings by 30 markers (955-925) heading into the Capital City showdown as 17-year-old Tristan Van Wieringen is third in the season long points chase. A second rookie in the top five, Donny Matteson Jr., is fourth overall in the standings while veteran, Dan Loughan completes the top five in Drivers Points Standings. Rookie Mike Occhipinti is sixth overall and is trailed by Greg Fullarton, two more rookies in Bobby Heyink and 15-year-old Dustin Jackson as veteran, Nyle Weiler completes the top 10 heading to Spartan. After the Spartan event, the first combination race pitting the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Northern and Southern Divisions head to head that was rained out on July 18th will be concluded on Saturday, August 1st. The fast 1/2 (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval of Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Genuine Broaster Chicken / Dean Best Memorial 50 Presented by Jason Dietsch Collision, Customs & Sales. After Economy Auto Parts Qualifying was complete as well as the 12-lap Last Chance Race, Mother Nature paid a visit to the historic Fort Wayne, Indiana speed plant forcing ICAR and Track Officials to postpone the main event to Saturday, August 1st. The 24-car field has been set and should any of the set 24-car starting field not be able to make the trip back, alternates from those teams who were there only, five total, have been established starting with the Last Chance Race results and those participants who didn't transfer into the show. All-Time Career Leader in wins in ICAR history, Brian Nester as well as Fort Wayne veteran, Steve Minich Jr., will lead the stellar 24-car field to the green flag on August 1st. On Saturday, August 1st, the 24-car starting field will get two Practice Sessions and then nine drivers from the starting grid have been selected to race in a special Dean Best Memorial Australian Pursuit to kick off the night before the 50-lap main later in the evening. Earlier in the afternoon on July 18th in Economy Auto Parts Qualifying, Bud Adams won his second Fast Qualifier award of the season over a stout 29-car field with an 18.505 around the fast 1/2 mile. His lap measured out to 97.271mph. The ICAR Track Record remains with Adams as back on September 18th, 1999, almost 16 years ago, he turned in a 17.790. In the 12-Lap Last Chance Race, Mark Bott led all 12 laps to secure his place in the main. Don Skaggs finished second ahead of ICAR North Points Leader, Jason Parish as Damon Breedlove, the all-time career leader in starts in ICAR history, completed the top five. James Krueger, Dave Nester and 15-year-old rookie, Dustin Jackson would also transfer into the show. After the conclusion of the August 1st race at Baer Field for the ICAR contingent, the next two combination races between the Northern and Southern Divisions come on back to back nights starting on Friday, August 7th. The ICAR contingent will make their first ever appearance to the fast 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway (MI), located north of Flint and south of Saginaw in Birch Run, Michigan as part of the tracks Big One XIII. The Modifieds will race in the Genuine Broaster Chicken 75 Presented Draper Toyota. There will also be a Fuel Stop for this event as well on Lap 38. The following evening will be the highest paying race of the 2015 racing season for the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour. The 2nd Annual Genuine Broaster Chicken / Hot Shoe 100 is on Saturday, August 8th at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Whittemore Speedway (MI), located west of Tawas in Whittemore, Michigan. A $3,000 payday awaits the winner as in the inaugural race one year ago; Brian Nester went to victory lane.
