Historic Race Makes a Return at Myrtle Beach Speedway

Thursday July 2nd will mark the return of the historic "Sun Fun 101" race for the Late Model division at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The race has always featured an all-star lineup dating back to the early 1960s with NASCAR legends Ralph Earnhardt, Cale Yarborough, and Bobby Isaac to name a few. The 2015 running this Thursday will see the event split up into twin races. Race one will be 50 laps around the 0.538 mile oval while the second will be 51 laps. Late Model drivers and teams from across the southeast are looking to contend for not only the big win(s), but also the opportunity to secure a starting position in the prestigious UNOH Battle at the Beach in November. The winner of each twin race Thursday will be awarded an automatic provisional for the 200 lap NASCAR Late Model Stock Car portion on November 21st. If the same driver is to win both twin events, the runner-up finisher in race two will be awarded the provisional spot. In addition to the NASCAR Late Models, also competing Thursday will be the PALM Chargers, Pee Dee Coastal Super Trucks, and Mini Stocks. All three of these support divisions have showcased great side by side racing throughout the season with tight point battles heading into the second half of season. Team who wish to turn in a race day pre-registration form can do so by Following this Link. Those who enter this form are asked to do so prior to 11:59 pm Wednesday night and to please stop by the speedway's main front office upon arrival to the track.
