Buzz Chew Chevrolet Cadillac Night Set for Saturday Night at Riverhead Raceway

RIVERHEAD, NY - Since 1985 noted Southampton, NY car dealer Buzz Chew has been a pace car sponsor at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway and this Saturday night June 27th will serve as the first of two Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac nights on the 2015 schedule. Highlighting the card will be the Hoosier Tire 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with Buzz and his team led by driver Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT among the teams competing. After Barbara & Jim Cromarty purchased the Riverhead Raceway from the late Eddie Hawkins one of the very first sponsors signing on with the new track owners was indeed Buzz Chew Chevrolet, who back then was headquartered in East Hampton. The Buzz Chew dealership has long since moved to 656 County Road 39 in Southampton with Chew still providing the track with not one but two pace vehicles. It is expected that the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro from Buzz Chew will again pace the Hoosier Tire 200 field. In addition to the Hoosier Tire 200 winner taking home a handsome trophy from Buzz Chew, so will the winners in the Charger, Blunderbust and Legend Race Car feature events. While the Chargers compete in a regular 20-lap main event, the Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars will go 30 circuits with time trial qualifying in effect. All three winner will take home Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac trophies as well as some hefty bonus money. The "L.I. Mod Maniac" Jim Schaefer has announced that the winner of the 20-lap Charger event as well as the 30-lap Legend Race Car event will pocket $1,000. The Blunderbust winner will earn in the neighborhood of $750-$800 for their 30-lap feature. On Saturday morning June 27th Schaefer and his team will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser at the Applebee's Restaurant just west of the track on Route 58 to support the bonus money program. Make you plans now to be on hand for a great night of racing on Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac night this Saturday June 27th at Riverhead Raceway. Feature racing will start at approximately 6:30 pm, for the full schedule of events please visit www.riverheadraceway.com or phone 631-842-RACE. Epic Fireworks Show Set for July 4th: Annually at Riverhead Raceway the Independence Day Fireworks program is a special one but this year with the show falling on July 4th itself coupled with the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the track the show indeed will become a huge event. Highlighting the NASCAR stock portion of the program will be the Cromarty Cup 65 for the NASCAR Modifieds. Once again the Fireworks show will be presented by Long Island based Bay Fireworks who have promised a "epic" show for the combined July 4th and 65th Anniversary program. In the past Bay Fireworks have provided some patriotic and breathtaking pyrotechnic displays which are complimented by heartwarming musical accompaniment. From all indications the July 4th show is one not to be missed. Prior to Fireworks the NASCAR Modified class will battle for the Cromarty Cup which is normally a 50-lap race but for this special occasion will be increased to 65-laps. The race has been presented yearly in honor of Jim Cromarty's July 2nd Birthday. The death defying Figure Eight racers will be on the card and with the July 4th race being their first in nearly a month the action at the "X" should be fast and furious. Also in action are the Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars in 20-lap main events. After all the racing and fireworks have been presented the daredevils of the Demolition Derby wars will take to the track for a bone jarring, car destroying contest. This will be the third Demo of 2015 under the new "bone stock" rules with such names as "Mad" Mike Smith, "Pistol" Pete Mikos, "Curious" George Astacio and "Hollywood" Ken Hyde Jr,. expected to compete. There is one place to celebrate the United States of America and July 4th and that is Riverhead Raceway. What is more American than a NASCAR stock car and Fireworks show with a Demolition Derby to cap it all off. The show will start at 6:00 pm and for our full 2015 schedule of events, rules and entry blanks please visit www.riverheadraceway.com or phone 631-842-RACE.
